“hey, queer girl!”
at first those words
stung,
but now they are
part of my
anthem;
because i refuse to let
any rain get me down
my heart is a rainbow full of
love and light—
you tried, girl,
but no one can bring down
a goddess who only knows how
to rise with the sun and shine like the moon
always;
you can judge me but that doesn’t
hurt me only you—
maybe one day you’ll be given
a proper education
in all the things you’re ignorant of,
might be a queer girl;
but i would rather be me
than be anyone like you.
